DIY - Lavender Bath Salts Recipe
My favorite time of year has arrived. One of which being cooler temps, which means long soaks in a hot bath at the end of the day. I've had numerous requests for one of my lavender bath salt recipes so I wanted to share it here. Actually, I have many different recipes for bath salts and in a variety of scents. Some I add baking soda to, some I don't.
I'll post them here in the upcoming months.
They're super easy and quick to make. Also perfect for gift giving during the holidays!
And what better way to envoke the changing seasons than through scent, right?
Epsom salt can be purchased in most drug stores. Actually Epsom salt is Magnesium Sulfate which has been proven to play an important role in soothing muscle aches and pains, exfoliating dead skin cells, relieving sore feet, improving sleep and reducing stress.
Lavender oil also benefits your body in numerous ways.
• Reduces anxiety and emotional stress
• Heals burns and wounds
• Improves sleep
• Restores skin complexion and reduces acne
• Slows aging with powerful antioxidents
• Improves eczema and psoriasis
• Alleviates headaches
So, what are we waiting for? Let's get started.
Ingredients:
2 cups Epsom Salts
2.5 teaspoons vegetable oil *Avoid using oils like olive, that have a strong scent that might clash chemically with the salt.
10 drops lavender essential oil
food coloring (optional)
Directions:
Place salts and oils in a large glass bowl and using a metal spoon combine well. Add a couple of tiny drops of food coloring if desired and stir through evenly.
Transfer salts to a sealable glass container. You also will need to stir the salts before use as the oils tend to settle at the base of the jar after awhile.
Add one to two spoonfuls of salts to warm bath water and make sure it's dissolved before relaxing in the bath for 20 minutes.
Note: If you are pregnant, you should consult your healthcare provider before using Epsom salt. Also, if you are pregnant or have other health concerns you should not use essential oils. For facts and safety information of essential oils and aromatherapy, see the
National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.
Talk to you soon.
In warmth,
Anna
