Making Sourdough Starter

You will want to use only a glass bowl or plastic bowl for sourdough starter. Along with only a wooden or plastic spoon.

These are the ingredients you will need:

2 cups flour
3 Tbs. sugar
1 Tbs. yeast
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups warm water

Here's How:

Combine the flour and sugar. Mix together well.

Add the yeast, salt and warm water. Mix together well.

Place a cloth over the bowl. Let set out at room temperature.

To keep the starter going replace what you use with equal amounts of flour and water. Stir.

This is what it will look like when it is activated.

Let your starter set 48 hours. You may use it after this time. It may be used in recipes in place of yeast or leavening, or along with it.

Note: You may also keep your starter in the fridge as opposed to on the counter if you prefer.

Happy baking!

There is something about sourdough bread that I just LOVE. I always make my Sourdough bread with starters from Sourdough's International, never disappointed with what they have!
